The Artist

Artist Taylor Prejean was born in the Pacific Northwest.

After moving to Oklahoma in 1970 she enrolled at Paris Jr. College in Paris Texas and studied for three years under the direction of Rebecca Finch who was a classic portrait artist. It was here that Taylor was first introduced to sculpting. With the varied mediums that art has to offer, Taylor was very comfortable and at home with free forming in clay.

In the summer of 1973 Taylor ventured to St. Louis and studied Painting and Drawing at Washington University in St Louis. After returning to Oklahoma she entered a wide variety of art shows taking many top prizes , as well as organizing art shows and judging others works professionally.

Moving on to Florida in 1974 she enrolled in Elliott McMurrell School of art. She studied there for year and then enrolled at Tampa Bay Technical School for two years. Her studies at that time were in advertising art , earning her two certificates in Advertising Art. At this time Taylor started her own freelance business. She had success with this for two years and continued to show her paintings and continueing judging shows.

Moving to Dallas Texas in 1978, she did freelance work for three newspapers , then accepted the challenge of using her art expertise in the cake decorating medium. Feeling that Dallas was nice but not the right place for her, she moved on to Denver Colorado in 1981. Cake designing had taken over a good deal of her time, (eg.) doing a bust of Beethoven that served 365 people, a severed head for a Stephen King spook show, all out of cake, fulfilled some of her artistic hunger.

In 1984 Taylor enrolled at Rocky Mt. School of Art in Denver and continued her study of art, which included Print making and Advertising art. Taylor is accomplished with most mediums in the fine arts field.

Moving back home in 1989 had made Taylor realize that her heart is really in the Pacific Northwest.

She has gained a wealth of knowledge in her travels. One of Taylor's interests, is collecting porcelain and older dolls. With her artistic abilities she has envisioned dolls with character and personality.

In 2001 Taylor enrolled at Lake Washington Technical school, pursuing a certificate in Computer Graphics. While going to school, Taylor designed her vision of a line of sculptures called "Barefoot Sculptures" , and set out, with a passion , to create them. These are the dolls you see here.
